I shot thru and killed 2 Blesbok in Africa PH said shoot the last one in the herd and I did, should have looked better my fault, and it cost me an extra animal. last 10 yrs my son has broken 2 scopes one from a fall on the side of a canyon taking a shot on a Coues Deer rock gave way and down he went on top of the rifle scope on his 257 Weatherby Nation Members Rifle, had to drive into town and buy a new scope, he could have used mine but elected not to. couple months ago he left his 300 Wby MK 5 on top of his little 79 Toyota hi-lux 4x4 elk mobile flat bed with took box, it's not stock by any means re-built built 22 R & Weber with Affenhauser, newer 5 speed really low geared, lifted and narrower 35" swampers, little winch can be mounted front or rear, made a nurf bar for me on my side I have to roll to get in, getting out I just turn to the side and slide out hitting the ground it's pretty ugly actually me trying to get in and out, great hunting truck for 2 people in the mud and snow at least it has a heater pretty spartan. almost everyone in town knows his trucks and out hunting people comment that thing would be great or hunting, anyway we opened a wire cattle gate drove thru and forgot the rifle on top we were down a 2 track probably 1/4 mile and I ask him where his rifle was should has seen the look on his face . we found it in the soft case it bounced bent the scope, neither of the rifles got hurt but the scopes didn't fare well, thankfully it was a Vortex HSLR he did bring his 257 along back in camp and 7 hours from home and did get a nice Muley. If we are hunting close to home and 2 or more of us are hunting it's no big deal to bring a 2 nd rifle, but when we are pretty far from home it is a big deal. sent the Vortex back and they sent out a newer upraded version within 2 weeks, not bad kudo's to Vortex, I sent a Razor spotting scope back I bought used had it for about a year and the eye piece blurred Vortex no BS send it back and they sent a new one out. Amazing the stuff we find out hunting near the road my buddy drove off with a pair of high end Zeiss binos on the hood never found those, found range finders twice, and a bunch of other stuff almost always next to a road, This gripes my ass some of these high end Europen brands and probably others they will say life time guarantee and it's a catch IMO, what does LIFE TIME MEAN ? some of them will put a life expetency such as an example 25 yrs or whatever in the fine print and after 25yrs it's your problem, Vortex is no BS, no fault, real lifetime guarantee, no receipt or regristation needed, you don't even have to be the original buyer, etc, you can't hardly beat that with a stick IMO. now granted there is some really good stuff out there and we have it also, I look closely at guarantees anymore.
